The course on Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics provides eduction on Bioclipse, which is a free and open source workbench for the life sciences, and which includes functionalities for cheminformatics, bioinformatics and pharmaceutical bioinformatics.
The course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn how pharmaceutical bioinformatics can be put in action with an advanced tool for handling and modeling of chemical and biological data.
For the beginner, Bioclipse offers graphical interfaces, which makes it possible to use the workbench without any knowledge in computer programming.
For the expert, Bioclipse is a fully scriptable tool that can be used to automatically pipe-line jobs, accessing High Performance Computers and web-services, using semantic Web-support, and a lot more.
Bioclipse is developed in collaborations between the Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics Division, Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Uppsala University, Sweden, the Cheminformatics and Metabolism Team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), UK, and others.
Bioclipse is open source and can be downloaded completely free of charge here.
